Hundreds of families in Somalia’s state of Puntland have fled inter-clan fighting in the town of Galkayo in Mudug region, witnesses said.
The fighting, the second as many months broke out early Wednesday morning when heavily armed militants from Puntland attacked opposing Galmudug positions in the south of the town after a police man from Puntland was shot dead.

The opening day of a two-day strike by the supporters of a new state has brought violence to parts of India’s southern Andhra Pradesh state.
Over 100 buses were burnt, and shops and businesses attacked overnight.
The strike was called after the federal government said the demand for a Telangana state would be considered after consultation with all parties.

Georgia’s breakaway regions signed agreements establishing diplomatic relations with the tiny island of Nauru this week. The small country’s decision created a big noise – Nauru is the third state to follow Russia’s example by recognizing Georgia’s two breakaway regions as independent states.
The price for recognition is reportedly only around $50 million, but for a tiny Pacific island country of some 21 square meters and about 11,000 people, the asking price is quite a good deal.
