Nauru recognizes officially South Ossetia and Abkhazia
Georgia’s breakaway regions signed agreements establishing diplomatic relations with the tiny island of Nauru this week. The small country’s decision created a big noise – Nauru is the third state to follow Russia’s example by recognizing Georgia’s two breakaway regions as independent states.
The price for recognition is reportedly only around $50 million, but for a tiny Pacific island country of some 21 square meters and about 11,000 people, the asking price is quite a good deal.
