Lebanon: 3 killed in clashes between shiite islamist group Hezbollah e al-Ahbash sunni faction

Three men were killed in Beirut on Tuesday in clashes between supporters of Shiite group Hizbullah and a Sunni faction, Al-Ahbash, security sources said.

Mohammad Fawaz, a Hizbullah official, his aide Munzer Hadi and Fawez Omeirat from Al-Ahbash were killed in clashes sparked by a fight between a supporter of Hizbullah and another from Al-Ahbash in the mixed Sunni-Shiite Beirut neighborhood of Burj Abi Haidar in Beirut.

But late on Tuesday Hizbullah and Al-Ahbash issued a joint statement following a meeting at the offices of the Lebanese Army Intelligence Unit in Beirut saying the clash was “an isolated one and does not carry any political and sectarian undertones.”

Somalia: Fresh fighting erupts in Mogadishu between al-Shabaab islamist militants and government troops caused the death of 6 civilians

Fresh fighting has erupted in the Somali capital between Islamist militants and government troops following Tuesday’s militant attack on a Mogadishu hotel that killed 31 people.

The French news agency reports at least six civilians were killed in the latest violence.

The al-Qaida linked al-Shabaab insurgent group claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s attack on the Muna Hotel and said lawmakers staying there were the targets. Four members of the Somali parliament were killed.

The hotel is near the presidential palace in a small part of Mogadishu still under government control.

The Islamist fighters of al-Shabaab have Tuesday claimed the responsibility of the deadly attack targeted to Muna hotel in the Somali capital Mogadishu that left the lives more than 30 including parliamentarians.

Yemen: Thousands flee from city of Loder in south Yemen, fights between soldiers and islamist group called al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP)

Nearly 80,000 people have fled the southern Yemen city of Loder where clashes between al-Qaeda-linked fighters and government forces has killed dozens of people.

Suspected al-Qaeda fighters have also fled the embattled city, following an assault by government forces in which dozens have died, the interior ministry said on Tuesday.

Civilians began leaving the town in the restive Abyan province on Friday amid an army bombing campaign against suspected al-Qaeda targets.

Somalia: Al-Qaeda fighters assaulted Hotel Mona in Mogadishu, 60 killed between them also six members of Parliament

Al-Shabaab fighters shot dead 30 people, including six members of parliament, in a suicide attack on a Mogadishu hotel Tuesday, Somalia’s deputy prime minister said.

The two Islamist militants disguised as government security forces then blew themselves up to avoid arrest after the attack on the hotel, which was crowded with Somali officials.

“Thirty people died in this ambush. Six of them are members of the Somali parliament and four are Somali government civil servants,” Abdirahman Haji Adab Ibbi told reporters after the deadly rampage at Hotel Mona.

“The 20 others are innocent civilians who died in this horrible incident,” he added.
