Violating the ceasefire again, Pakistani troops targeted forward Indian posts along the Line of Control with rockets, mortars and resorted to heavy firing in Poonch district in the wee hours of morning today.
Pakistan troops attacked the Indian forward posts in Krishnagati sub-sector of the district around 1am, brigadier general staff, 16 Corps, Brig S Dua said.
Dozens of mortars and rockets were fired, which exploded away from the posts without causing any damage, he said, terming it as an “unprovoked act”.

At least one person has been killed and many others injured in two separate explosions in Russia’s North Caucasus region.
An explosion hit a cafe in the city of Pyatigorsk, which lies at the foothills of the Caucasus mountains, injuring at least 20 people on Tuesday afternoon.
Stanislav Belyayev, a spokesman for the Stavropol region police, said the explosion appeared to be a “deliberate terror attack”, but added an official investigation was under way.
Earlier in the day a suicide bomber killed one policeman and injured three others in North Ossetia, authorities said.

A senior leader of India’s Maoist rebels has said that the government will have to declare a “simultaneous” ceasefire in order to enable talks between the two sides.
Koteswara Rao said this was the government’s last “chance for peace”.
India has asked the rebels in the past to unilaterally declare a 72-hour ceasefire to enable talks.
PM Manmohan Singh has described the Maoist insurgency as India’s biggest internal security challenge.

Returned peace between Colombia and Venezuela.
Presidents of both Countries, Juan Manuel Santos and Hugo Chavez, have decided to resume diplomatic relations interrupted by Caracas after accusations from Bogota’ to give ospitality to elements of colombian guerrilla.
In a meeting of Santa Marta, in Colombia, Chavez and Santos have also decided to work together to contrast the presence of armed groups at border.

Lebanese troops on Saturday killed two Islamic militants including a head of the al-Qaida-inspired Fatah al-Islam which fought the army three years ago, a military spokesman said.
“Abdul Rahman Awadh, one of the key leaders of Fatah al-Islam,” was killed along with another militant known as Abu Bakr during clashes in the eastern Bekaa Valley region, the spokesman said.
A judicial source said Abu Bakr was Awadh’s key deputy who provided military training to members of the shadowy group said to be inspired by al-Qaida.
