A new war front was opened between Burmese Army troops and Kachin Independence Army (KIA) soldiers on Wednesday afternoon, at 4:30 p.m. local time in Puta-O district in Kachin State, Northern Burma, said KIA officials.
There is heavy fighting between Burmese troops under the Puta-O Military Strategy Command-3 and KIA soldiers of Battalion 7 under Brigade 1, said a KIA officer in Laiza headquarters in eastern Kachin State.

Syrian troops massed on the Turkish border overnight, witnesses said today, escalating tensions with Ankara as President Bashar al-Assad uses increasing military force against a popular revolt.
Hundreds of terrified refugees crossed into Turkey today to escape an army assault on the border regions, witnesses said.
Witnesses said the refugees streamed into Turkey from the Khirbet al-Jouz region in Syria to near Guvecci in Turkey.
Thousands of refugees are camped on the Syrian side of the border having escaped attacks on their villages and towns further south. More than 10,000 have crossed into Turkey over the past two weeks and are now in four official camps.

Rebels in Sudan’s western Darfur region accused the government of attacking them with military vehicles, warplanes and troops on horses on Sunday.
The Sudanese army confirmed it had clashed with rebels in the mountainous Jabel Marra region but said it had not used aircraft and the fighting had not displaced civilians.
Darfur is just one of several flashpoints as Sudan’s south prepares to secede on July 9 — a move analysts say could embolden rebels elsewhere. The north’s army is also battling armed groups in the Southern Kordofan border state.

The number of injured in Colombia’s southern Cauca province from a car bomb explosion rose to 17 on Sunday, police said.
Authorities had earlier said that nine people, including two policemen, were injured in the bomb attack that hit the provincial capital of Popayan at midnight Saturday.
Eight more people, including two minors, have been sent to hospitals for medical treatment for severe injuries incurred in the terrorist attack by members of the National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrilla group, police said.

At least 25 people killed and 50 others injured, for the last 24 hours heavily fight between Somali most powerful insurgent al-Shabaab and pro-government Ahlu Sunna Wal-jamaca, mostly combatants in central Somali town of Beledweyne in Hiraan region.
The fighting erupted after fighters al-Shabaab attack a bases manned by Ahlu Sunna around the airport, an eyewitness told Garowe online.
