Fighting has flared between Iranian forces and the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK), which denied Iran’s claims that it sustained heavy casualties in attacks on one of its camps.
Iranian state media reported that the Revolutionary Guards had taken control of a PJAK rebel camp “near the Iraqi border” and killed, injured or captured dozens of PJAK fighters in the fight.
PJAK spokesman Sherzad Kamangar told Rudaw that only two PJAK fighters were killed in the clashes and that PJAK had killed 21 members of Revolutionary Guards and injured dozens of others. He said the Iranian forces have not been able to retrieve the bodies of some of their dead because they are scattered in the rugged mountainous terrain.
