The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Tuesday acknowledged that it has lost control of the oil-rich town of Heglig following what it said was an attack by South Sudan’s People Liberation Army (SPLA) and “mercenaries”.
South Sudan government, was the first to speak about the fighting earlier today when it denounced air attacks by Sudan air force targeting a strategic bridge in Abiemnhom which is situated west of Mayom town that is part of the Unity state.
Juba claimed that the bombing injured four civilians including one child.

The Malian army has regrouped in the town of Mopti, a potential new battlefield in the fight against rebels from the north.
Tuareg fighters have operating in the nearby area, which separates southern Mali and their self-declared independent state of Azawad.
The town of 115,000 thousand inhabitants is likely to become the base for any future assault by the Malian army against the rebels.

At least 15 suspected al-Qaida militants were killed in the battles with the army in the Louder city of Abyan on Monday, a day after two dozens were reported killed by drone attacks in the province, the Yemeni official agency Saba reported.
Security officials in Abyan told Yemen Post that seven troops were also killed.

Seven persons, including a 7-year-old girl, were killed in a new wave of attacks by Boko Haram in Nigeria.
During the night in the north-eastern city of Dikwa, the Islamic terrorists killed a policeman, a civilian and a local politician the Nigerian army reported. The command attacked a police station, a bank and a hotel but was repelled by soldiers, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, a spokesman for the Combined Task Force for the state of Borno explained.

Syrian forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad killed about 156 people nationwide on Saturday, about half of them were civilians, the Revolution Council reported, as the regime in Damascus intensified its brutal crackdown on the opposition three days ahead of U.N. deadline to pull back and end the violence.
Monitoring groups said most of the killings occurred in Hama, Homs and Aleppo. The Syrian Network for Human Rights reported more than 60 people were killed in the Homs suburb of Latamna alone, which came under heavy bombardments by army tanks.
