Turkey: 8 Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters and 10 soldiers killed in clashes in Hakkari province

Turkish soldiers and Kurdish fighters clashed in the most intense battles of the separatist conflict this year, with 18 people killed in three army outposts in the southeast, Turklsh officials and security sources say.

Up to 100 Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters launched simultaneous attacks at dawn on Tuesday on the three military observation points in Hakkari province near the mountainous border with Iraq, killing eight soldiers and wounding 16, the sources said.

Burma-Myanmar: Burma army and Kachin Independence Army (KIA) battle in five different places in Shan state

Fighting between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Burma’s armed forces broke out today in at least five different places in northern Shan state after two Burmese army columns were sent to the area as reinforcements, local residents told the Kachin News Group (KNG).

Both sides suffered casualties from skirmishes near two towns - Pangsai (also Kyukok) and Mongkoe (also Munggu), situated along the Muse to Kutkai road route.

Gaza Strip: In retaliation to killing 6 in Gaza, Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades (EQB) hits Israel with 12 homemade projectiles

The military wing of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas, Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades EQB declared on Tuesday at 14:50 and 15:25 that its operatives in the Gaza Strip have targeted a nearby Israeli military base “Re’m” with 12 homemade projectiles as a response to Israeli continued crimes against our people in the Gaza Strip.

The Brigades announced in a military statement that the Israeli crimes will not pass without punishment and the Israeli enemy will pay the cost.

Nigeria: Boko Haram claims Nigeria churches deadly attacks

The Islamist militant group known as Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for deadly attacks on Christian churches in northern Nigeria Sunday.

The claim came in the form of an e-mail sent to journalists from the group’s purported spokesman, Abul Qaqa.

It said the group carried out the bombings because Christians have enjoyed government support while, in the words of the e-mail, “killing Muslims and destroying their mosques in northern towns.”

Nigeria: 25 killed in bomb blasts in Kaduna and Zaria churches, not claimed by Boko Haram. 80 wounded in riots between christians and muslims

Suicide bombers targeted four churches in a series of attacks in northern Nigeria on Sunday, killing at least 25 people, many of them children, and prompting reprisal attacks.

As many as 80 people were also reported wounded in the restive Nigeria region that has become a centre of ethnic strife in the country.

In Kaduna city, where 10 people were killed inside a Catholic church and 29 wounded, the attacks also led to reprisals by Christian youth against local Muslims.
