Somaliland: Peace talks begin in Ainaba between Somaliland and Sool, Sanag, Cayn (SSC) rebels

First round of formal peace talks between the Somaliland government and the rebel Sool, Sanaag and Cayn (Ain) or SSC, are due to begin Today, Somalilandpress has learned.

A 16-member SSC team led by outfit’s chairman Suleiman Isse Ahmed ‘Hagaltosie’ arrived in Burao on
Monday night to open the negotiations. Consisting of traditional elders, business leaders, politicians and civil
society groups, they were met in the village of Yayle by high ranking ministerial team.

Chechnya: At least 3 soldiers killed in Grozny suicide blast, blamed islamist militants of Caucasus Emirate group

At least three Interior Ministry troops were killed and another three were wounded when a suicide bomber detonated explosives outside a Grozny department store on Monday, investigators said.

The attack occurred around 12:40 p.m. at the entrance to the Voentorg department store on the outskirts of Chechnya’s capital, the Investigative Committee said in a statement carried by Interfax.

Egypt: Salafist groups overrun egyptian army outpost killing more than 10 soldiers and trying to enter in Israel

More than 10 Egyptian soldiers were killed by “global jihadists” during a complex attack at night on a border crossing between Israel, Egypt, and the Gaza Strip. The terrorists seized two armored personnel carriers, and attacked the border checkpoint. Israeli soldiers and the air force engaged and killed the terrorists who had entered the country. In a separate airstrike in southern Gaza, the Israeli Air Force targeted another global jihadist cell that was plotting to attack Israel from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

The complex attack took place at the Kerem Shalom crossing, which borders the Gaza Strip and Egypt. The “global jihadists,” a term the Israeli Defense Forces uses to describe members of Salafist groups linked to al-Qaeda’s network in the region, attacked and overran “an Egyptian military post [near] Rafah, killed over ten Egyptian soldiers and took over two armored personnel carriers,” according to a statement released at the IDF website.

Turkey: Clashes with Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) rebels in Hakkari province, 11 rebels and 6 soldiers killed

The Governor of the south-eastern province of Hakkari, Orhan Alimoglu on Sunday said that 6 troops and 2 village guards were killed in a clash with PKK terrorists in Gecimli village.

The clash erupted after terrorists attacked a military outpost in Gecimli village late on Saturday.

Syria: Heavy fighting renews in Damascus and Aleppo

Heavy explosions shook the Syrian capital Damascus today and helicopters circled overhead as rebels appeared to be renewing their offensive in the city, witnesses and activists said.

Meanwhile, Syrian forces clashed with rebels around Aleppo’s television and radio station today, activists said, and a local rebel commander said his fighters were preparing for a “strong offensive” by government forces on the country’s largest city.
