Libya: Army has begun assault on Bani Walid town

Ground forces have begun a full-scale assault against Bani Walid in a major escalation of clashes that began on Tuesday.

The attack marks the apparent termination of efforts to find a peaceful solution to the crisis, with further casualties on both sides being reported throughout today, Thursday.

“We have started to enter Bani Walid and we are not far away from the centre of the town”, said army spokesman Mohammed El-Gandus. “If we win this fight, Libya will finally be free.”

Sudan: Clashes in South Kordofan, 15 Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) rebels killed by army

Report says clashes have erupted between Sudan’s army and rebels in the oil-producing state of South Kordofan, on Monday, a week after the rebels had shelled the state capital near the border with South Sudan.

15 rebels have been killed and several rebels have been wounded foolowing the attack near South Kordofan’s main city Kadugli on Sunday says Sudanese army spokesperson Al-Sawarmi.

Somalia: Fights erupted between somali and AMISOM forces against al-Shabaab militants near Burhakaba

Fierce clashes has erupted on Tuesday between Somali forces backed by AU peacekeeping soldiers and al-Shabaab militants in the main road linking Mogadishu to Baidoa city, reports said.

The combat reportedly sparked this morning as Somali and AMISOM forces moved closer to the rebel-held Burhakaba city, just about 180 Km northwest of Mogadishu.

Nigeria: 24 Boko Haram militants shot dead by soldiers in Maiduguri

Despite using grenades, rocket propellers and improvised bombs to battle Nigerian soldiers in multiple attacks in Maiduguri, 24 Boko Haram militants died in the counter attack by the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO).

Ogaden Online frontline correspondent has reported that in recent weeks, The Ogaden national Liberation Army mounted against the Ethiopian Troops and its associated militia who were conducting punitive campaigns against the civilian population in Ogaden.

On Oct 13, 2012 After ONLA received an intelligent tip that Ethiopian soldiers detained hundreds of civilians in Wacays-Godle, Huraale district, which is part of Degahbour and Qodaxle, near Galaalshe which is part of Nogob province.
