Sudanese government and a splinter rebel faction of Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) will hold talks aiming to reach a peace agreement in the Qatari capital Doha next week, a Sudanese minister said.
Amin Hassan Omer, Sudan’s chief negotiator for the talks of with Darfur rebel groups and head of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) implementation follow-up office said Monday the negotiations with JEM-Military Council (JEM-MC) faction will resume next week.

Democratic Republic of Congo troops have returned to the eastern city of Goma, although rebels who occupied the city for nearly two weeks remain close by.
Reports from the area said about 600 army troops entered Goma Monday, while government officials also started to return.
The M23 rebel group pulled out of the city on Saturday after the brokering of a regional peace under the plan, the rebels were to withdraw 20 kilometers from the North Kivu provincial capital. But residents and officials said some of the rebels remain on the outskirts of town.

Colombia’s armed forces claim to have killed at least 20 FARC guerrillas in the southwestern province of Nariño, reported local media Monday.
Military raids on insurgent camps in rural Nariño have left at least 20 guerrillas from FARC’s “Mariscal Sucre” column dead, according to General Leonardo Barrero, head of the army’s Joint Southwest Command.
Among the dead was a FARC commander known as “Guillermo el Pequeño”, Barrero told reporters. The general alleged that Guillermo el Pequeño was a 25-year veteran in the insurgency, responsible for “dozens” of cases of murder, extortion and drug trafficking in Nariño.

Puntland Government strongly condemns Somaliland’s newest military provocation in parts of Puntland State by dispatching Somaliland forces from the western part of Sanaag region towards Puntland constituencies and its security forces stationed in Dhahar District. Local constituencies have staged protests against Somaliland’s military aggression.
Earlier this month, the same unit of Somaliland forces arrived in Huddun district of Sool region, intimidating Puntland constituencies to forcefully participate in Somaliland’s local elections.

Heavy Fighting has taken place in the Hudun district of Sool between Somaliland armed forces and khaatumo militias which are being supported Puntland forces.
Somaliland army Chief General Shaqaale in a press statement said the army had repulsed an offensive launched by the militia on the eastern fringes of Hudun town aimed at scaring voters taking part in the electoral Process.
