Rebels wounded during fresh fighting in Sudan’s Blue Nile state have retreated to South Sudan, the army said on Monday, after Washington warned of a dangerous increase in tensions on the undemarcated border.
The army statement followed claims by rebels of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) that a government offensive in Blue Nile had forced thousands to flee.

Pakistani police have revised the cause of a blast that killed 83 people on Saturday, saying a suicide bomber was behind the attack that pulverized a busy marketplace.
The explosion targeted Shiite Muslims in Hazara, on the outskirts of the southwestern city of Quetta, authorities said.

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) will hold talks with the Sudanese government in Addis Ababa on 5 March, announced Yasir Arman, the secretary-general of the group on Friday.
In a written statement emailed to Sudan Tribune, Arman said the SPLM-N chairman, Malik Agar, had confirmed in a message to the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) that a 10-member delegation, led by the movement’s secretary-general, will take part in the talks.

Syrian rebels have captured a military airbase in the north and geared up for a major battle against regime forces as the opposition says it refuses to accept President Bashar al-Assad in talks on the 23-month conflict.
The rebels on Friday said they overran the base in the town of Sfeira, east of Aleppo international airport, and captured a large stockpile of ammunition.

Somali government forces with the support of African Union troops have this morning captured three strategic towns from the al-Qaeda affiliated terror group al-Shabaab.
In simultaneous operations, the joint forces faced little resistance as they secured the towns of Janalle, Aw Dhigle and Barire, located South West of the Somali capital, Mogadishu, along the Shabelle River.
