Three rangers were killed and five others wounded, two seriously, by a bomb explosion in Narathiwat’s Cho Airong district early on Thursday, as peace talks began between the Thai government and representatives of separatist groups in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Lt-Gen Udomchai Thammasaroraj, the 4th Army commander, said he believed the attack was intended to disrupt the peace-making process.

North Korea declared today that it is cutting off all inter-Korean military communication lines and suspending the activities of communication liaison offices.
According to Chosun Central News Agency, the North Korean officer who delivered the message by telephone at 11:20AM on Wednesday declared, “In the situation where a war may break out any moment, there is no need to keep the North-South military communication lines that were laid between the militaries of both sides.”

A blitz of attacks across Afghanistan led to the deaths of 52 armed Taliban members in the past day, the Ministry of Interior said Wednesday.
The operations were carried out by Afghanistan’s national police, army, National Directorate of Security and NATO-led coalition forces, the ministry said.

At least 8 Burma army troops have been killed and several more injured following clashes with the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in northern Shan state recently, according to KIA officials based in the area.
The hour long clash that took place at Magwi Baw Bum hill, near Nampaka , involved troops from the KIA’s Battalion 8 and a Burmese army column made up of soldiers from Infantry Battalion 130 and Light Infantry Battalion 504.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) said Tuesday its strategic rocket and long-range artillery units have been ordered to enter combat posture targeting the United States and South Korea.
The Supreme Command of the Korean People’s Army said that all the field artillery troops, including strategic rocket units and long-range artillery units, were to be put on the highest alert, the official KCNA news agency reported.
