Syrian war jets carried out airstrikes on Monday against rebels’ positions at the country’s borders with Lebanon, a move that came just days after the Syrian Foreign Ministry warned that the army’s patience was running thin with rebel fighters sneaking into Syria from Lebanon, the pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV said.
The army targeted rebels’ positions at the villages located to the northeast of the borders with Lebanon, the TV said, noting that the army’s airstrike didn’t reach Lebanese territories.

Burma army troops and forces from the armed wing of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) clashed in northern Shan state on Wednesday, less than 36 hours after both sides met for peace talks in the Chinese border town of Ruili. Fighting took place at Man Pying near Hu Hpyet town in Kutkai township.
The clashes which lasted more than two hours involved the Burma army’s Infantry Battalion No. 241 and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) special forces battalion No. 301 led by Major Hpauda Dut, according to a senior officer with the KIA’s 4th Brigade. The official declined to give his name for security reasons.

Ethiopian and Somali troops who were in control of Hudur’s security for over a year left early Wednesday and shortly after, al-Shabaab insurgents moved in capturing the town.
Residents of Hudur had been complaining of the exorbitant prices paid for staple foods due to a siege by al-Shabaab insurgents in the surrounding area. Reports last month stated that the situation was very dire and that residents fled to other districts in the region due to the blockade.

An al-Qaeda-linked group has claimed responsibility for a coordinated suicide bomb and gun attack on the country’s justice ministry last week that killed at least 18 people.
Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), an umbrella group for al Qaeda-linked fighters, said in a statement published online on Sunday that it had ordered the suicide bombers to attack the building floor by floor and “liquidate” its enemies inside.

Five militants have been killed in a special operation on the border between two Russian North Caucasus republics, Chechnya and Ingushetia, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said on Saturday.
Special forces of the Russian Interior Ministry and Federal Security Service blocked a gang of 15 gunmen in the mountains and five of them were killed in an attempt to break through the police cordon firing machine guns and grenade launchers, the committee said in a statement.
