North Korea: North Korea preparing for war against South Korea and United States

North Korea is taking every initiative to show the world that it is prepared for war, particularly as South Korea and the United States enters into their Key Resolve military exercise.

The Rodong Shinmun, the voice of the North Korean Communist Party, said in its report that it North Korea will devote its armed forces of 10 million to fight the United States in its own way.

Iraq: Islamic State of Iraq rebel group claims killing of 48 Syrian soldiers in Iraq

Al-Qaeda’s Iraqi front group claimed an attack on a convoy in west Iraq that killed 48 Syrian soldiers and nine Iraqi guards, in a statement posted on jihadist forums on Monday.

The soldiers had entered Iraq for medical treatment and were being transported through the western province of Anbar on their way back to Syria when the attack took place on 4 March, according to the Iraqi defence ministry.

South Sudan: South Sudan army says repulsed two Sudanese attacks

The South Sudanese army (SPLA) repulsed two separate attacks allegedly carried out by Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in its Upper Nile and Northern Bahr el Ghazal states, an army official said Friday.

“The SPLA forces have repulsed two attacks by the Sudanese armed forces. They carried out one in Northern Bahr el Ghazal and another in Upper Nile [states]. They were defeated,” Phillip Aguer, the SPLA spokesperson said.

Falkland Islands: Islanders prepare for referendum to mantain status like Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom or to go under Argentina

Falkland Islanders will go to the polls on Sunday to vote on whether they want to remain British amid increasing tensions with Argentina over the sovereignty of the territory.

The tiny community is expected to overwhelmingly back retaining its status as an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom.

Nigeria: Ansaru islamist group kills 7 foreigners kidnapped in Bauchi state

AN Islamist group, which declared itself independent from Boko Haram, Ansaru, has said on Saturday that it had killed seven foreign hostages it seized on February 7 from a construction company in Jama’are town of Bauchi State, SITE Monitoring Service said.

According to the online news source, Reuters, the group issued a statement in Arabic and English on an affiliate of the Sinam al-Islam network accompanied by screen shots of a video purporting to show the dead hostages, SITE said. One screen shot showed a man with a gun standing above several prone figures lying on the ground.
