A spate of bomb attacks, including 23 car bombings, struck Iraqi cities, killing at least 20 people and wounding 195 in the latest escalation of violence, just five days ahead of the country’s provincial polls.
The deadliest attacks occurred in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad when seven car bombs separately ripped through the city during the morning rush hour, killing 10 people and wounding some 52 others, an Interior Ministry told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
In Kirkuk, some 250 km north of Baghdad, four car bombs separately went off in the city, killing two people and wounding 24 others, a local police source anonymously told Xinhua.
