Iraq: 36 people killed in a wave of attacks with car bombs in Shiite areas
A series of car bombs struck predominantly Shi’ite areas of Iraq on April 29, killing at least 36.
Police say 18 people were killed and 42 wounded by two car bombs in the southeastern city of Amarah.
Another car bomb in Diywaniya killed nine people and wounded 23.
Hours later, a car bomb went off in Karbala, killing three and wounding 14.
Police say a car bomb also ripped through a Shi’ite neighborhood in the mostly Sunni town of Mahmoudiya, killing six people.
No one claimed responsibility for the attacks.
