Syrian troops backed by pro-government gunmen fought fierce battles with rebels on Saturday in a strategic area in Homs province near the Lebanese border, activists and state media in Damascus reported.
The latest fighting came as U.S. officials said the Obama administration was poised to send millions more in non-lethal military aid to rebels trying to oust President Bashar Assad.

A fierce fighting has occurred at Bardera town in Gedo region. This was after a fierce engagement broke up between members of al-Shabaab militia.
The town has not been liberated yet and is in the hands of al-Shabaab for now.
The fighting begun when two (Amirs) leaders, both from al-Shabaab disagreed with a decision to impose a curfew in the region.

Syrian opposition captured a military airport in the city of Homs, Al Jazeera TV channel reported on Thursday.
According to the TV channel, after fighting between the Syrian army and the opposition military airport Daba is completely under the control of the opposition.

SSPP/SSA troops in the frontline
On 15 and 16 April, during the Myanmar New Year celebrations, a fierce battle broke out between Burma army and Shan State Progress Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) at Loi Zay, Tangyan Township, northern Shan State, said local news sources.
“It has been 2 days, yesterday and today that they [Burma army] have reinforced its troops that resulted in a fierce fight. Burma army lost 4 dead, 8 injured,” said Maj Sai La, spokesperson for SSPP/SSA.

At least two Grad rockets fired from the Sinai area hit Israel’s southernmost city of Eilat on Wednesday morning, causing no injuries but some damage.
An Islamist militant group in the Sinai Peninsula Magles Shoura al-Mujahadin claimed responsibility for the attack on its website on Wednesday saying it targeted Eilat with two Grad missiles and then withdrew safely.
