FIERCE battles have raged on the edges of Damascus as the army presses a major assault to crush rebels around the capital, a monitoring group and activists say.
And in the contested city of Aleppo in the country’s north, rebels attempted to advance into western regime-held districts, sparking clashes with government forces, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Tuesday.

The Israeli Army launched seven air strikes on different districts in the Gaza Strip on Monday morning.
Palestinian security sources told that after the missile attack from Gaza Sunday night, Israeli warplanes attacked the districts of Rafah, Khan Yunis and Al Zawaideh for seven times. Most of the missiles hit non-residential areas why there was no casualtines.

At least four suicide bombers and three security guards of Afghan presidential palace were killed following attack in capital Kabul on Tuesday.
Afghan interior ministry officials said the attack was carried out near the eastern entrance gate of the presidential palace around 6:30 am local time.
The officials further added that the militants were equipped with heavy and light military equipments.

The army on Monday stormed the security zone of Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir’s mosque in the Sidon suburb of Abra and arrested a number of gunmen as the Islamist cleric fled to an unknown destination, following clashes that left 16 troops martyred.
Several local TV networks aired live footage showing army troops advancing into Asir’s security zone and arresting a number of his gunmen.

Gunmen dressed as paramilitary police killed nine foreign tourists in an unprecedented attack in the Himalayas of Nanga Parbat on Sunday, in a security failure bound to embarrass the new government just weeks after it took office.
The bodies of the victims were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad for post portem and other legal formalities.
