Somalia: Renewed infighting between al-Shabaab fighters in lower Shabelle region
Residents of Gobaanle town in the lower Shabelle region confirm that there have been renewed clashes between Alshabab fightersin the region.
It is reported that fighters loyal to Sheikh Abu Mukhtar Abuu Zubeyr clashed with fighters loyal to Sheikh Mukhtar Abu Mansur.
The clashes started on Friday midday and after a fierce fighting, fighters loyal to Abu Mansur took control of the town forcing Abu Mukhtar’s men to flee to El Adde town.
News sources add that the defeated lot are planning to retaliate and are regrouping to retake Gobaanle from Abu Mansur’s men.
