Afghanistan: Clashes between talibans and Afghan Public Protection Force (APPF) on Kandahar-Herat highway leaves 83 dead
According to local authorities in western Herat province of Afghanistan, at least 83 people including 72 militants and 11 Afghan security forces were killed following clashes on Kandahar-Herat highway.
The officials further added that the clashes took place on Sunday in Chakab area fo Gulistan district, after militants ambushed a convoy of the Afghan Public Protection Force (APPF).
The clashes started late Sunday evening and continued until Monday morning, leaving at least 72 militants and 11 public protection forces dead, the officials said, adding that five public protection fores vehicles were also torched by militants.
Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the incident and the alleged death of their militants.
