Taliban fighters wearing special forces uniforms have attacked a car park for NATO vehicles near a US military base in an Afghan province bordering Pakistan.
More than 30 vehicles stationed at the base before heading to Pakistan were torched or damaged as a result of early Monday’s attack, which was followed by a gun battle between the fighters and security forces, at the Torkham border crossing in Nangarhar.

Officials in Yemen confirmed on Friday that a US-led drone strike in the southern province of al-Bayda, which is believed to be a stronghold of al-Qaeda in the region, took down a reported four terror militants, including a top al-Qaeda leader, Qayib al-Dhahab, from the Dhahad clan.
“Qayid al-Dhahab, chief of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in al-Bayda province, was killed along with two of his bodyguards by missiles of a US drone this morning,” Xinhua quoted local security official as saying.

Five Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed on Friday in an encounter with security forces in Ganderbal district in Kashmir.
“Five militants belonging to the Qadri Asadullah group of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in a counter-insurgency operation in Preng area of Ganderbal in the wee hours today,” a defence spokesman said.
