Tunisia: 5 members of National Guard killed in clashes with militants in south of Tunis
Five members of the Tunisian National Guard Forces were killed on Wednesday during clashes with militants thought to be affiliated to Jihadists in the mountainous area south of the capital Tunis.
The clashes took place in Sidi Ali Belaoun village in Sidi Bouzid governorate, Tunisia’s arid heartland.
There are conflicting reports about the exact casualties, as some media put the death toll higher at seven, but the state TV said at least three were killed.
Five others were injured in the battle, a security source told Xinhua.
The confrontations came after security forces raided one of the suspects’ houses. Tunisian Mosaique FM radio reported that at least two individuals from the armed group were killed.
