Dozen of people including police officers were killed after al-Shabaab attacked a police station in the central Somalia town of Baladweyn, officials said on Tuesday.
Somali Current sources said that the militant group bombed the entrance of the police station before its fighters launched assault on officers in the compound.
The number of casualties in the raid is not officially yet known, but reports say that at least 15 people were killed.
Al-Shabaab operations spokesperson Abdiaziz Abu Muscab claimed that they have killed Djibouti and Somali soldiers in the compound and took over the station.
