Sudanese rebels have fired mortar bombs into the capital of South Kordofan state where they rose up against the government two years ago, the insurgents said on Wednesday.
The shelling of Kadugli on Tuesday was in retaliation for an air raid two days earlier that killed two children, said Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, spokesman for the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N).

A car bomb explosion in North Sinai on Wednesday morning left 11 soldiers dead and 37 injured.
Army spokesperson Ahmed Ali’s official page said in a statement that the car bomb targeted a bus carrying members of the Armed Forces on leave.

Syrian troops Tuesday fully recaptured the strategic town of Qara in the northern countryside of the capital Damascus.
The army recaptured Qara, which is located in the al-Qalamoun Mountains north of Damascus, after eliminating the last “terrorist pockets” there, Xinhua reported citing the state-run SANA news agency reported.

Two suicide bombers – one driving a rigged car and the other on a motorcycle with an explosives belt – attacked Iran’s Embassy in Beirut Tuesday, killing at least 25 people including an Iranian diplomat and wounding more than 150, security sources said.
The attack, confirmed by Lebanon’s military prosecutor as the work of suicide bombers, was claimed by an al-Qaeda-linked group and is the latest in a spate of deadly bombings linked to the war in Syria.

Dozen of people including police officers were killed after al-Shabaab attacked a police station in the central Somalia town of Baladweyn, officials said on Tuesday.
Somali Current sources said that the militant group bombed the entrance of the police station before its fighters launched assault on officers in the compound.
