The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) said that it recaptured Abu Al-Hassan area which represents a mobilization, administrative, and operations command of the rebel Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) in South Kordofan state.
The SRF consist of several Darfur rebel movements and Sudan People Liberation Movement North (SPLM-N) which is fighting government troops and their allied militia the Popular Defense Forces (PDF) in South Kordofan and the Blue Nile states since 2011.

A KIA soldier preparing for battle position
A battle took place between Kachin People Militia (Mungshawa Hpyen Hpung in Kachin) troops under KIA’s 38th Battalion and Burmese army troops under 567th Light Infantry Regiment at Banglum Bum in northern Shan State on Dec 16 at 2:30 pm. No casualties on either side have been reported so far.
Another battle took place on the same day between KIA’s 8th Battalion troops and Burmese army’s 505th Light Infantry Regiment troops at 4 pm. The two sides encountered at a location between Prang Tawng village and Bang Lung village in northern Shan State as Burmese army troops currently stationed at Namlek Bum came down from the mountain.

Syrian warplanes continued to crush Aleppo for a fifth consecutive day Thursday, according to Agence France-Presse.
Sources on the ground have said that Thursday’s attacks have expanded to include villages southeast of Syria’s second largest city.

Two military sites of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) in Jonglei state came under heavy attack early Wednesday morning from forces of General Peter Gatdet Yak.
The assault cames just days after president Kiir accuses his political adversaries of an “attempted coup”—a claim widely interpreted as an indefensible. Some government officials call it “an inside job” designed to use as a reason against anyone who tries to challenge Kiir’s leadership.
