The Colombian military has said it killed 14 FARC rebels in a raid on a camp near the Venezuelan border. The leftist fighters were reportedly from a unit responsible for an ambush that killed 14 soldiers in August.
The bodies of those killed during the raid were shown to reporters in Aruca state on Monday. The air and ground attack on the FARC camp located near the town of Tame, in a rural area near the border with Venezuela, was carried out Sunday night, the military said in a statement.

A group of militants attacked an ISAF base in Zheri district of southern Kandahar province Monday, in which nine militants and a coalition soldier were killed, officials said.
Haji Jamal Agha, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents mounted attack on the ISAF base at around 11:00am. All the nine militants were killed by the ISAF forces.

Iraqi security forces have launched an operation against Al-Qaeda-linked militants in the city of Ramadi.
Large areas of Ramadi, the provincial capital of the western Anbar Province, fell to militant control in late December.
On January 19, heavy clashes were reported between militants and Iraqi police, which were supported by local tribesmen and SWAT teams.

A day after they shot dead five Hindi-speaking bus passengers in Kokrajhar district, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) rebels attacked Muslim villagers, killing one of them and injuring four others in the Panbari area of neigbouring Chirang district on Saturday evening.
Around the same time, a group of assailants killed Bishom Sharma, a Hindi-speaking barber, near his salon at Harisinga in Udalguri district. Police suspect the killers could be from the same militant outfit. Kokrajhar, Chirang and Udalguri districts are Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts.

The spokesperson of the South Sudanese army (SPLA) said Saturday that government forces recaptured Bor, the capital of its largest state from rebels.
“Government forces have today [Saturday] defeated the rebel forces in Bor,” Col. Phillip Aguer briefly told Sudan Tribune, without giving further details.
