Afghanistan: Explosions and gun battles hit Jalalabad city

A group of suicide bombers attacked a police headquarter in the first district of Jalalabad city in eastern Nangarhar province.

The incident took place early Thursday morning and several explosions were heard near the police station, while the insurgents exchanged fire with the Afghan security forces for several hours.

South Sudan: Clamorous, UN provides weapons to rebels led by Riek Machar ?

From peace agreements in 2005 that ended civil war between North and South Sudan, the mandate of UN peace keeping in South Sudan (UNMISS) is to protect civil population and to support Juba government in the strengthening of democratic institutions.

With the start of civil war between president Salva Kiir and rebel coalition led by Dr. Riek Machar and Rebecca Garang, UNMISS has been more times suspected to have an active part supporting the rebels, committing so a serious violation of principle of neutrality that rules peace interventions of United Nations.

Crimea, Transnistria, Ukraine and Russia

The situation in Crimea is already known to all of us, but there is a but…..do you know what is and where is Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic or more famous like Transnistria ? Who doesn’t know it, it is a little piece of territory that during the end of USSR split with a blitzkrieg from Moldova (or Moldavia) thanks to a presence of russian army present there, declaring indipendence. Now Transnisnistra has its own little army built and overall “supervised” from the presence of russian soldiers (in peace-keeping mission), it uses ruble like currency and overall it is one of biggest supermarket for the sale of weapons. All this is granted by Moscow. At this point, you can see the map below:

Israel: Israel strikes Syrian army targets after border blast, 1 dead and 7 injured

IDF forces struck a number of Syrian military and security targets connected to the blast that injured four Israeli soldiers on Tuesday, the IDF Spokesman said early on Wednesday.

The attack killed one person and wounded seven others, Syria’s armed forces said, warning that the attacks endangered stability in the region.

Syria: Army prepares for offensive in Qalamoun mountains

Syrian army forces were Monday readying an assault on the last rebel-held areas in the Qalamoun mountains, located on the Lebanese border, after overrunning the key opposition bastion Yabrud.

“The army will, under the battle plan, launch operations in all areas where terrorists are to be found,” a security source in Damascus told AFP.
