The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced on Tuesday the liberation of the town of Abri, SPLM-N’s base and HQ at Kualeeb ranges in Nuba Mountains (South Kordofan). The recapture of the town comes as part of the “decisive summer operations” to end insurgency in the area.
SAF spokesperson, Al Sawarmi Khalid Saad, in statement said the town of Abri derives its importance from the fact that it is a link between the Kuwaleeb Mountains and Kauda, the rebel stronghold.

Yemen army launched a ground offensive against al-Qaeda in different areas in south of country. Military sources referred it.
The operation comes ten days after a series of air raids that, according army, have killed sixty terrorists.

At least 22 people were killed in an attack on a hospital in Nanga Boguila, some 450km north of Central African Republic’s capital Bangui, according to an Anadolu Agency reporter.
Gunmen believed to be affiliated with seleka militia had attacked the hospital on Saturday afternoon, killing at least 22 people, including three Doctors Without Borders (MSF) staffers, the African peacekeeping force confirmed on Monday.

Opposition fighters in the Syrian border town of Zabadani surrendered after intense fighting with army troops, losing their last stronghold along Lebanon’s border.
The Syrian army was now in near total control of the Qalamoun region, West of Damascus, Al-Alam reported.
Dozens of opposition fighters reportedly handed themselves over to the Syrian authorities.

Iraq’s army attacked a convoy of extremist rebel fighters inside eastern Syria, leaving eight dead Sunday as the vehicles approached the country’s border, according to Agence France Presse.
Iraq’s Brigadier General Saad Maan told AFP, “The army struck eight tanker trucks in Wadi Suwab inside Syrian territory as they were trying to enter Iraqi territory to provide the (jihadist) Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) with fuel.”
