A series of fierce battles took place in Kachin and northern Shan State between allied ethnic armies and Burmese army as the KIO-Burmese government delegations met face to face for talks in Myitkyina.

KIA’s 17th Battalion troops on Thursday fought against an unknown Burmese army unit near Hu Bu Manau Bum hill in northeastern Shan State at around 9 am, said a KIA source.

A combined force of KIA’s 12th and 27th Battalion troops engaged in a series of battles against Burmese army’s 301st Light Infantry Regiment (LIR) troops in Mansi Township in southern Kachin State on May 14. A KIA source in Mansi says the two sides first encountered at Nam Sa village at around 5:30 am and again at Sharaw La Hkyet in the afternoon.
