At least 79 people were killed and 141 others wounded in fierce clashes in eastern Libya between armed groups loyal to a rogue ex-general and Islamist militias, a health ministry official told AFP Saturday.
Giving the latest toll of Friday’s unrest in Benghazi, the official, Abdallah al-Fitouri, said those wounded had been taken to five hospitals in the area. An earlier toll had 37 dead and 139 wounded.

Gambella Nilotes United Movement/Army (GNUM/A) condemns the mass killing perpetuated by the TPLF-Led Ethiopian government’s security forces against the Oromo University students and other innocent civilians which occurred in many parts of Oromia Region particularly in Ambo Zone since last two weeks.
The students were peacefully demonstrating their constitutional right for the Oromo farmers who were/are forcefully and illegally evicted from their ancestral land around Finfine (Addis Ababa) due to new Addis Ababa Integrated Master Plan imposed upon them.

A series of fierce battles took place in Kachin and northern Shan State between allied ethnic armies and Burmese army as the KIO-Burmese government delegations met face to face for talks in Myitkyina.
KIA’s 17th Battalion troops on Thursday fought against an unknown Burmese army unit near Hu Bu Manau Bum hill in northeastern Shan State at around 9 am, said a KIA source.

Fighting has intensified between troops and rebels in Sudan’s South Kordofan region, adding to humanitarian needs in an area where more than one million people were already affected, the U.N. said on Thursday.
The fighting that began three years ago “has intensified in April-May,” the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in its weekly bulletin.
