Residents of three villages in Borno State have repelled an attack by suspected Boko Haram fighters, an eyewitness told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Report said at least 200 militants were killed during the clash which occurred in the Kala-Balge district of the state.
The witness said the residents had formed a vigilante group to repel the attack.

Clashes that followed two simultaneous attacks by al-Qaeda suspects on army positions in Yemen’s southern province of Shabwa killed 10 soldiers and 13 jihadists on Wednesday, the army said.
“The Yemeni air force is participating in the battles, bombing columns of al-Qaeda vehicles trying to advance towards Azzan,” the Shabwa city that the army said it retook on Thursday last week.

According to news reports from Baladxawo, a town in Gedo region indicates that an intense confrontation occurred between military soldiers from the Somali National Army backed by Ahlusunna Waljamaaca forces and troops from the Interim Jubba Administration, unclear whether it’s Ras Kamboni.
The battle erupted at around noon near a checkpoint in the northern neighborhood of Baladxawo. The town under the control of the Somali Federal Government and Ahlusunna Waljamaaca, was invaded by a fleet of fighters that take direct orders from the Interim Jubba Administration leader Ahmed Madobe.

Separatist leader asks to join Russia after claiming an overwhelming ‘yes’ to self-rule in unofficial referendum.
Ukraine’s most populous regions stood on the verge of joining Russia on Monday when the birth of a “People’s Republic” was simultaneously proclaimed in Donetsk and Luhansk.
Denis Pushilin, the self-styled “prime minister” of the “Donetsk People’s Republic”, appeared outside the main government building, which was seized by his followers last month, and announced: “The People’s Republic is now sovereign!”
