Christian “anti-balaka” militiamen — former members of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA)
At least 28 people have been killed in Central African Republic during several days of fighting between Muslim and Christian militias in a town in the center of the war-torn country, a priest and a former member of parliament told Reuters on Monday.
The fighting in Mala, around 300 km (190 miles) north of the capital Bangui, between former Seleka rebels and the Christian militia known as the “anti-Balaka”, is the latest in months of tit-for-tat inter-communal violence that has killed thousands and displaced over 1 million people.

South Sudanese army captured Nasir a rebel stronghold town in Upper Nile state and Bentiu, the capital of Unity State, the government and rebels confirmed to Sudan Tribune on Sunday.
The SPLA spokesperson Colonel Philip Aguer on Sunday told Sudan Tribune that Nasir which is on the north side of the Sobat River, 30 kilometres from the Ethiopian border,. is since this morning in the hands of the government forces.

The army today killed 40 Al-Qaeda suspects, mainly foreigners, and wounded dozens of others on day six of a major offensive in southern Yemen, military officials said.
Most of the “terrorists” were killed in Shabwa province during the ongoing operation against al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the defence ministry said in text messages sent to journalists.

Around 60,000 people have fled towns in Deir Ezzor province of eastern Syria that have been the scene of fierce clashes between rival jihadists, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says.
The battle between al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front and the breakaway Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has raged for four days despite an order from al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri to stop fighting.

The death toll from clashes between government forces and Abu Sayyaf bandits who launched a counterattack to regain control of a jungle training camp in Sulu has risen to 26, the military said yesterday.
Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Capt. Maria Rowena Muyuela said the latest field reports showed 25 Abu Sayyaf militants were killed and 24 of them wounded. On the government side, one Marine trooper died and 19 were wounded.
