Rival Libyan militias battled for Tripoli International Airport overnight and into Sunday, with the sounds of gunfire and blasts echoing across the area.
Brigades from Zintan have controlled the airport since 2011.
Armed vehicles amassed in the area overnight before fighting broke out around dawn, witnesses said.

Yemeni Shiite rebels agreed on Saturday to withdraw from Amran, seized in a push towards the capital, in a deal struck with authorities who are dispatching troops to the strategic city.
The Huthi rebels seized the northern city Tuesday, in a new challenge to the government, which is also facing an al Qaeda threat and a separatist movement in the south.

Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in Jammu district on Saturday targeting Indian positions with small arms and automatic weapons, an officer said.
“Pakistan Rangers fired at Border Security Force (BSF) positions in Arnia sub-sector of the international border at 11am today (Saturday),” a senior police officer said here.

Up to 30 Ukrainian soldiers are presumed killed following an overnight rocket attack on July 11 by rebel forces in Luhansk Oblast, in the deadliest single attack on the army since it resumed its anti-terrorist operation 10 days prior.
The precise death toll of the incident remains unclear, with conflicting figures cited by a range of media outlets. A statement on the website of Ukraine’s Interior Ministry cites 19 deaths and 93 wounded.

The Iraqi Oil Ministry confirmed on Friday that Kurdish Peshmerga forces had seized the plants that produce crude oil in the fields of Kirkuk and Bai Hassan, warning of the danger of this irresponsible behavior, which it considers an encroachment on the Constitution, the national wealth and a disregard for the Federal authority.
