Yemen: President Abdrabu Mansour Hadi forms tribal army to fight Houthi militants in Jawf governorate
Yemen’s transition president Abdrabu Mansour Hadi has ordered to set a popular army to fight the heavily armed Houthi Group in Jawf gvernorate after a ceasefire between the army and pro-government tribal fighters and Houthis collapsed, Jawf governr told the UAE Etihad Newspaper on Friday.
Governor Mohammed Bin Aboud was qouted as saying that Hadi ordered to set up a camp of trbal fighters from Jawf and Marib governorates to fight the Houthi militants who are trying to take over Jawf.
The Houthi Group has been fighting the forces and tribes in the far north for months. Last month, it took control of Amran governrate near the capital city of Sanaa and that was the second city to fall in its hands after Saada since the group took arms against the authorities first in 2004. Observers said Houthis are seeking to expand.
