Syria: U.S. army launches dozens of air strikes in Syria against Islamic State targets
U.S. warplanes have attacked dozens of Islamic State targets inside Syria in major escalation of President Barack Obama’s new borderless war against the black-clad jihadists.
“U.S. military and partner nation forces are undertaking military action against terrorists in Syria using a mix of fighter, bomber and Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles,” the Pentagon announced.
The first wave of attacks came early Tuesday morning (about 8:30 pm EDT Monday) as more than 40 cruise missiles fired from U.S. warships slammed into targets in eastern Syrian.
Air strikes from manned fighter bombers followed.
