Two Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in combat with pro-Russian rebels in east Ukraine, Kiev’s military said today, as violence rocked a truce after talks between Kiev and Moscow ended without a breakthrough.
“Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed over the last day, three were injured,” said spokesman Volodymyr Polyovy.

The Nigerian military and extremist sect, Boko Haram, have reached an immediate ceasefire, the Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, said Friday.
There were reports the two sides were having talks over the release of more than 200 schoolgirls abducted by the group April 14.

Islamist militias held their ground on Thursday in the face of an assault by an ex-general backed by army units aimed at retaking Libya’s second city of Benghazi, military sources said.
Medics, revising an earlier toll, said at least 25 people had been killed in 24 hours of fighting since early Wednesday, when Khalifa Haftar’s forces launched what he called an operation to “liberate” Benghazi.

A Kurdish official in Syrian Kurdistan’s Kobani town said Thursday that US-led airstrikes have successfully pushed back Islamic State IS insurgents from parts of the besieged Syrian town.
“The international coalition has fought ISIS more effectively during the last few days,” Nassen told AFP by telephone, using an alternative name for IS.

Shiite rebels who have been expanding their control in Yemen have clashed with al-Qaeda militants in the centre of the volatile country, leaving 12 dead, a security official said on Wednesday.
Five rebels, six suspected al-Qaeda militants and a civilian were killed late on Tuesday during the fighting in Rada in central Yemen, the security official and tribal sources said.
