Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) and al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria have reached a deal to stop fighting each other, it was claimed on Thursday night.
Isil and Jabhat al-Nusra have battled bitterly for more than a year to dominate the rebellion against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The Libyan air force is carrying out air raids targeting Ansar al Sharia bases in Derna, a city in eastern Libya that has sworn allegiance to the Islamic State, Libyan military sources said Wednesday, adding that the bombardments caused injuries and destroyed ammunition depots.

Nato officials have seen Russian military equipment and Russian combat troops entering Ukraine this week, its top commander says.

At least 50 people were killed and more than 40 others wounded after Al-Shabab fighters took over Kudha town in the Southern Somalia from the Raskamboni militia, officials confirmed Sunday.
The coastal town of Kudha, which is close to the Somalia-Kenya border, is an important makeshift port for Al-Shabab. The Raskamboni militia loyal to Jubba administration had captured it from the al-Shabaab two weeks ago, Xinhua reported.

The leader of Syria’s Islamic Front rebels says he intends to “liberate” the besieged border town of Kobane from its occupiers, including the Syrian Kurdish fighters currently defending it.
In a videoed press conference, Zahran Alloush, who heads an alliance of rebel forces reported to number 45,000, accused the Syrian-Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) of being loyal to the Damascus regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
