At least 30 people have been killed in Yemen during intense fighting between Sunni tribesmen and Shia Houthi fighters in the southern province of Bayda.
The gun battle erupted on Monday as the tribesmen, believed to be backed by al-Qaeda fighters, launched a counter attack to push back the Houthis who have been expanding their control of the city of Radaa, a predominantly Sunni area.

A suicide bomber– dressed in a school uniform and apparently carrying explosives in a student rucksack– killed at least 48 people at a boys high school in northeastern Nigeria Monday.

Intense artillery fighting has broken out in the separatist bastion of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, according to AFP journalists in the area.
Firing close to the town centre began at 2:00am (local time) and could still be heard at the same intensity two hours later.

South Sudanese government has been accused by the country’s rebel group of launching fresh attacks just a day after rival leaders recommitted themselves to the cessation of hostilities agreement at the Addis Ababa summit by the regional heads of state and government.
Chief negotiator for the rebel faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-in-Opposition), General Taban Deng Gai, said their areas came under heavy attacks by troops loyal to president Salva Kiir and their foreign allies in Unity state on Saturday morning.

An al-Qaeda-linked group has claimed to have killed 70 Shiite Houthi militants in suicide bombing in Yemen’s central Al-Bayda’ province.
Ansar al-Sharia said on Twitter on Saturday that a bomber had blown up his explosives-laden car at a Houthi gathering in Radaa city.
