Libya: Libyan islamist militias form a new coalition Shura Mujahidin Council (SMC)
A newly formed organization, the Shura Mujahidin Council (SMC), urged today the Libyan Islamist militias to form a coalition to confront the offensive announced by the government of Prime Minister Abdallah al Thinni.
SMC, made up of unknown members, issued a statement accusing Al Thinni and the militia of the self-called Libyan National Army (LNA) of destroying the city of Benghazi, while urging all opposition forces to join in a single organization.
Although there are no details about the new organization, SMC is allegedly financed by the Islamic State (IS), the armed movement that controls regions in Iraq and Syria, and has followers in Tunisia and Egypt, occupying the Libyan city of Derna.
