Libya: Islamists and pro-government forces clash in Benghazi, 16 killed

Clashes on Monday between pro-government forces and Islamist militiamen in Libya’s eastern city of Benghazi killed 16 people and wounded dozens, security sources and medics said.

Forces loyal to former general Khalifa Haftar and to internationally recognized Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thani have been battling for weeks against Islamists who have taken control of much of Libya’s second city, and the capital Tripoli.

Nigeria: A bombing at Gombe bus station kills at least 20 people, blamed Boko Haram

A bombing at a bus station in Gombe city in northeast Nigeria killed at least 20 people on Monday, the latest violence in the region repeatedly targeted by Boko Haram, the Red Cross said.

“There was an explosion at the Dukku motor park. The Red Cross mobilised with 20 body bags and they have all been exhausted,” said Abubakar Yakubu Gombe, area secretary for the Red Cross.

Yemen: 18 Houthi members killed in clashes with Arhab tribesmen in North Yemen

Eighteen members of the Houthi militant group were killed Sunday and 22 others wounded in violent clashes with armed Arhab tribesmen in a northern Yemeni district that bears the tribe’s name, tribal sources said.

“Violent clashes erupted between Houthi militants and armed Arhab tribesmen which left 18 militants dead and 22 others wounded,” a tribal source told The Anadolu Agency.

Sudan: Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) fighters repel new attack by government forces in South Kordofan

Sudanese government troops launched a fresh attack on rebel positions in South Kordofan state on Friday, but were subsequently driven back, a military statement said.

According to statement issued by the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) on Friday, forces from the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) had “attempted to capture Daloka area, which lies 8km south to [the state capital] Kadugli, but it was defeated before the sunset”.

Pakistan: Pakistan killed Mullah Fazlullah leader of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) at Afghan border

Pakistani forces, with the help of Isaf, killed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Mullah Fazlullah, ministry of defence said in a series of tweets on Saturday. According to the tweets, Fazlullah. who planned various major terror acts including the Tuesday’s massacre in a Peshawar army-run school, was killed on Friday night inside Afghanistan along the border with Pakistan.
