Gunmen ambushed a military truck during a night-time attack in a southern province, officials said, killing all four soldiers in the vehicle, in a raid claimed by Yemen’s Al-Qaeda branch.
Yemeni security officials said the attackers surprised the soldiers late on Thursday with heavy gunfire while patrolling a street in Houta, a town in the southern Lahj province. They could not identify the attackers.

Boko Haram Islamist militants killed about 100 people this week in attacks on villages in northeast Nigeria, with residents fleeing the onslaught, according to a senator representing the region.
The insurgents attacked three local government areas of Kala Balge, Gamboru Ngala and Dikwa in Borno state, Ahmed Zanna, the senator representing central Borno, said by phone on Friday from the capital, Abuja. “The attackers killed no less than 100 people in the villages and at market places.”

After setting the historical shrines of Logar province of Afghanistan on fire on Saturday February 21st, 2015, the ISIL militants also killed one civilian and replaced the Taliban’s white flag with their own black flag in the Charkh district. On the same day, the ISIL men entered locals’ houses, broke their televisions and warn people not to watching television anymore (Tolonews).
The ISIL affiliated group claimed the responsibility and asked Talibans militants in the Province to declare their allegiance to Al-Baghdadi, the Caliph of Islamic States of Iraq and the Levant. On Tuesday February 24th, 2015, another 30 men, all from Hazara ethnic minorities, were kidnapped in Zabul province by a group of masked men but no one yet claimed responsibility for it.

The U.S.-led international coalition’s warplanes bombed Thursday locations of the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) in the vicinity of the town of Tel Temir (50 km west of Hasakah), in northeastern Syria.
Speaking to ARA News in Tel Temir, civil rights activist Omar Khalil said that the coalition’s warplanes targeted Thursday afternoon IS militants in the Assyrian villages of Aghibish, Hwaijah, Tel Fwaida, and Mount Abdulaziz, without verifying the losses in the radical group’s ranks.

Ukraine’s military has announced that it will begin withdrawing heavy weapons from the front lines of the conflict. The announcement came after defence officials reported that there had been no deaths in eastern Ukraine due to fighting in the past two days. It is the longest period without casualties since early January, when fighting again flared in eastern Ukraine.
