Syria: Jaysh al-Islam rebel group claims responsibility for Damascus shelling
According to reports from the British-based Syrian Observatory on Human Rights (SOHR), government attacks on the town of Douma, east of Damascus, killed at least 12 and wounded at least 100 on February 5.
The Jaysh al-Islam (Army of Islam) group, which operates in the east Ghouta town of Douma, was reported to have carried out shelling of Damascus on the same day.
While it was not clear if these were in response to the specific government attack, AFP reported that Jaysh al-Islam had vowed retaliation for continued government strikes on Douma two days previously.
