Somaliland armed forces earlier today managed repulse the ambush by gunmen aligned to renegade Sultan Wabar near the village of Qolujeed which is situated in the border between Somaliland and Ethiopia in Awdal region.
Unnamed Somaliland army officer said, “The Gunmen aligned to renegade Sultan Wabar attacked the SL army unit at 10:00 am this morning in the village of Qolujeed one soldier was injured in the battle in the ensuing battle which lasted one and half hours and one of the attackers was arrested the attackers were repulsed fleeing towards the Ethiopian border.
The government of Somaliland has to launch the current military operation in the area in a bid to flush out a group of known anarchists led by the renegade Sultan Wabar who have being threatening people in the area.
