Iraq: ISIS launches major offensive on Baghdadi district western Anbar province
A security source in al-Anbar province announced Thursday, that the ISIS ground launched a major offensive on the district of Baghdadi western Anbar, indicating that violent clashes broke out between security forces and elements of the organization.
The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “ISIS launched, today, a wide offensive on al-Baghdadi district (90 km west of Ramadi) from several directions,” noting that, “Violent clashes broke out between the group elements and the security forces stationed there.”
The source, who requested anonymity, added, “The clashes are still ongoing, and various types of light and medium weapons are being used,” adding that, “Causalities are not known yet.”
