The rebel group of Sudan People Liberation Movement North (SPLM-N) announced that their forces were able to seize the Kahliat garrison which lies 5 kilometers west of South Kordofan capital town of Kadugli on Tuesday morning.
Areas in the proximity of Kadugli have witnessed an uptick in military operations between Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and SPLM-N rebels since last December which saw some rockets landing inside the city center.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has launched an offensive against Hutu militants from the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) in the east of the country without the support of UN troops, according to latest reports.
“Operations against the FDLR (Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda) began in South Kivu early this morning and will last as long as these people resist,” said an officer in the armed forces (FARDC) speaking anonymously to AFP. “We have taken steps to protect the population,” continued the officer.

Units of the army and armed forces on Tuesday continued its mop-up operations, tightening the noose around foreign-backed terrorists in several areas across the country.
Units of the army and armed forces intensified fire power against terrorist organizations’ dens and gatherings in Qar’ al-Ghazal, al-Houteh, Tal Salmo and Um Jerin in Abu al-Duhour area in the countryside of the northern Idleb province, a military source said Tuesday.

A top U.S. commander says Iraqi forces have launched an attack to recapture the western town of Baghdadi from Islamic State (IS) militants.
Lieutenant General James Terry, the senior U.S. commander of the U.S.-led coalition effort in Iraq and Syria, said on February 23 that some 800 Iraqi troops backed by U.S. warplanes were attacking Baghdadi, which was lost to IS militants earlier this month.

Clashes between ethnic Kokang rebels and Myanmar’s military near the country’s northeastern border with China left around 50 government troops dead over the weekend, a member of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army said Monday, though state media claimed the losses were far fewer.
Lt. Col. Ta Po Kyaw, secretary of the TNLA—which is fighting to reclaim the special region of Kokang in Shan state alongside the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA)—told RFA’s Myanmar Service his group had confronted army troops from four different divisions in Nanhkan and Hseni townships in recent days.
