Sudan: Army repels new Sudan People’s Liberation Movement - North (SPLM-N) rebel attack in South Kordofan
The Sudanese troops repulsed an attack by the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement - North (SPLM-N) fighters on Kuldegi town in South Kordofan, a military spokesperson said Thursday.
Following the failure of peace negotiations in December 2014, the warring parties in South Kordofan resumed the fighting as every side accuse the other of carrying ground or air attacks.
“In a desperate attempt to capture the town of Kuldegi in South Kordofan state, the SPLA rebels lost a large number of fighters and a big number of equipment and machinery used in the attack, which the Sudan Armed Forces managed to repel on Thursday morning,” Alswarami Khaled said.
