Burma-Myanmar: Battles rage between TNLA rebels and army in Tarmonye and Manton

A battle took place between Ta-ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)’s 571st Battalion and an unknown Burmese Army Infantry unit at a location between Man Sa and Nam Maw village in Tarmonye in northern Shan State on Mar 8 at 1:15 pm, reported PSLF/TNLA Information Department.

Libya: Fighting renewed near Sebha at Brak Al-Shatti airport and airbase site

There are reports of continued fighting at the Brak Al-Shatti civilian and military airport located about 500 km south of Tripoli and just north of Sebha.

The heavy fighting is reported to be between the Third Force of the Central Shield and the Libyan National Army.

Yemen: Yemen army base attacked by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) militants leaves 4 dead

At least two militants and two soldiers died in an al-Qaeda assault on an army base in southern Yemen early on Monday, officials and residents said, in another sign of unraveling security.

The assault on the base in Mahfad in Abyan province was a setback for the country’s splintered military which, alongside local militiamen, had largely expelled al-Qaeda from the area’s towns in 2013.

Nigeria: Chad and Niger launch joint military offensive against Boko Haram in Nigeria

Chad and Niger have launched a joint army operation against Boko Haram militants in Nigeria, military sources said, stepping up a regional push to end the Sunni Muslim group’s six-year insurgency.

Boko Haram has expanded cross-border raids into Cameroon, Chad and Niger in recent months. This has spurred Nigeria’s neighbours to retaliate, although cooperation between them and Abuja has been limited and at times strained.

Nigeria: Maiduguri multiple blasts kill 55 people, as army recovers two more local governments

Coordinated multiple bomb blasts, separately detonated by three suspected female Boko Haram suicide bombers, Saturday, rocked the Maiduguri Monday Market (MMM), Borno Express Terminus motor park and Baga road fish market, killing 55 people and injuring 86 others within an hour.

This came as the Nigerian Army through a signed statement announced the recovery of two more local governments from the insurgents.
