Kenya: Garissa University siege by al-Shabaab group ends with 152 students killed and 81 injured
The campus siege at Garissa University has ended, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery announced that 147 people died however independent sources confirmed 152 were killed including the four alleged terrorists.
80 people were wounded in the Thursday attack and those in critical condition airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment. Others are receiving treatment at Garissa Level Five Hospital.
Addressing press after the siege ended, Nkaissery condoled with the families of those who perished in the attack. “I send my personal condolences to the families of those who have died in the attack”, the CS said. He added: “The National Youth Service will send buses to collect students tomorrow and take them to their homes”.
