Two Congolese soldiers were killed on Monday in an ambush laid by the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda in North Kivu province, east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), security sources said on Tuesday.
Residents of Kitshanga locality where the incident happened told Xinhua they heard gunshots throughout Monday night, probably fired by soldiers who had been angered by the killing of their colleagues.

Tikrit had been seized by IS in June of 2014, and despite heavy fighting, the Iraqi government could not retake the city until about a week ago, with the help of Shiite militias. During Tikrit’s occupation, IS was reported to have murdered over 1,500 Iraqi Air Force personnel from Camp Speicher, located in the city. Iraq’s human rights ministry put forward an official number of 1678 military personnel missing since IS captured the city, presumed dead, with the Islamic State claiming to have killed 1,700.

Fierce clashes raged Monday between rebels and loyalists in southern Yemen, leaving more than 100 dead in 24 hours, as the Red Cross faced delays to urgently needed aid deliveries.
Relief workers have warned of a dire situation in the impoverished Arabian Peninsula state, where a Saudi-led coalition is waging an air war on the Iran-backed Houthi Shiite rebels.

Kenyan fighter jets bombed on Sunday positions of the militant Islamist group al-Shabaab in Somalia in response to the recent terrorist attack carried against Garissa University College.
The military planes targeted two camps in the Gedo region, which are used by al-Shabaab to cross into Kenya, the BBC reports.

Six Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in two separate incidents in the east of the country, government officials say.
Four died after their vehicle was reportedly fired on by pro-Russian separatists in Schastye, close to the separatist stronghold of Lugansk.
